The church was used by the kings of France due to its proximity with the royal residence: Le Louvre.
The gothic tower was in fact built in the 19th century, at the same time as the first district townhall. It acts as a link between the church and the townhall.
Most of the church was rebuilt in the 15th century in gothic style.
